It starts on April 6 and culminates with the main event on April 8, which features the best horses and jockeys. This is a special year because next month, the Grand National Festival will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Red Rum winning the third event.
History buffs as well as horse racing fans surely remember the name of the most successful horse in the history of the race. He won the Grand National on three occasions between 1973 and 1977 and finished runner-up in the other two intervening years. Simply put, Red Rum is the perfect avatar for one of the most important horse racing competitions in the world. Artist Paul Tavernor has created a masterpiece of steel wire and mesh celebrating Red Rum, a tribute that will be unveiled at Aintree.

The past definitely belongs to Red Rum, but the present will likely be contested by two other “Red” horses. Vieux Lion Rouge is the main favorite to win the competition at all major bookmakers listed here, but he will have to fight hard for this honor.
