Jubilee Handicap Meeting Preview

 Race 1

Juvenile Plate - 1160m
3 – 4 – 9 – 5
The Mike Azzie trained, Like Astair (Pathfork) scored by 2 lengths on debut despite not striding out, he appears to be a high class performer in the making and can keep his unbeaten record intact.  Paul Peter conditions the progressive, Rebel’s Champ (Rebel King) he settled for second last time out and appears to be a major player here. O Lucky Man (Kahal) is one of 3 debutants in this event, his dam Happy Archer (Dubawi) was a multiple Grade 1 winner, one has to respect this Sean Tarry inmate on breeding alone. The inform Gavin Van Zyl stable steps out, So Var (Var) the colt makes his post maiden appearance with Anthony Delpech in the saddle, he has claims if making some improvement.
Race 2
Maiden Plate - 1600m
1 – 3 – 10 – 13
The formidable combination of jockey, Gavin Lerena and trainer, Candice Dawson will team up with the progressive, Town Flyer (Visionaire) he had valid excuses last time out, and should prefer racing over the mile. Sean Tarry trains, Synergy (Philanthropist) the gelding is getting better with racing experience and should be competitive. Polar Vortex (Western Winter) is an interesting first timer from the Mike De Kock stable, he is from the direct family of Graded performer and sire, Master Of My Fate (Jet Master) and he is also a half brother to dual Grade 3 winner, Captain Splendid (Captain Al). Stuart Pettigrew saddles, Red Indy (Marchfield) who earned a cheque on debut, and could very well do so again, he should appreciate the extra furlong.
Race 3
Maiden Plate - 1160m
16 – 7 – 12 – 1
Zerodarkthirty (Black Minnaloushe) from the Sean Tarry yard has been a runner up in both starts to date, he looks the right one in a rather weak field. Alec Laird has two very nice runners in, Over Easy (Tiger Ridge) who ran a fair race on debut and should make natural improvement and Gambado (Mambo In Seattle) this juvenile makes his debut in this event, he is bred to stay being a half brother to Northern Ballet (Silvano) she has won 4 races from 1800 - 2500m, but the gelding should be doing his best work late if not to green. Wellspring (Querari) ran a smart race over this course and distance when last seen in action, he represents the Clinton Binda stable and has a quartet chance.
Race 4
Maiden Plate - 1160m
14 – 6 – 7 – 11
Mike De Kock has made a rather interesting jockey engagement, Piere Strydom will be in the irons when the extremely well bred Aussie import, Shugfoo (Star Witness) makes her debut, she is out of top class sprinter, Golden Delicious (Made Of Gold). Ultimate Shamrock (Fastnet Rock) from the Alec Laird stable made a satisfactory start to her career in racing, she rounded off quartets first time out and should be involved in the finish. Sean Tarry trains, Blindfold (Judpot) who is a half sister to Grade 1 winner Bull Valley and she would have come on leaps and bounds from her debut, she has definite claims here. Johan Janse Van Vuuren saddles, Lunar Dancer (Philanthropist) she should appreciate the extra ground and can make the frame in this contest.
Race 5
Pinnacle Stakes - 1160m
1 – 4 – 5 – 10
The blue blooded, Rivarine (Var) has the ability to pull out all the stops, Mike Azzie’s charger should go close to landing the score. Johan Janse Van Vuuren steps out the classy, Doosra (Captain Al) he is a high class performer and will in all likelihood give the top selection some cheek. Crown Of Roses (Tiger Ridge) from the Gary Alexander yard is a quality racemare, she’s finished 3 lengths adrift of Carry On Alice and harbours eachway claims against male rivals here. Timeofthevikings (Great Britain) may be outclassed on paper, but the Grant Maroun trainee enjoys this trip and carries a low mass.
Race 6
Pinnacle Stakes - 1400m
3 – 1 – 4 – 7
Pool Party (Kahal) from the Magner stable was a runner up when last seen in action, she gets the services of Piere Strydom which is an added bonus. She’s A Giver (Philanthropist) gave an honest account of herself last time out and she looks competitive back against her own sex. Mike Azzie saddles, Penny Serenade (Silvano) she had valid excuses in her last start and should be much better over this trip. Costa Da Sol (Mogok) is clearly highly thought of by the Gavin Van Zyl yard, and she deserves a mention.
Race 7
Grade 3 Jubilee Handicap - 1800m
6 – 1 – 3 – 8
Joe Soma conditions, Fortissima (Fort Wood) who had valid excuses in her comeback effort, the 1800m should suit her down to the ground. Defending champion, Leige (Dynasty) hasn’t raced for 197 days, but with that said he hails from the yard of top class trainer, Sean Tarry and should give them plenty of cheek. Gary Alexander steps out Listed winner, The Elmo Effect (Admire Main) ignore his last performance, he’ll be better over this trip. Flying Ice (Go Deputy) is a classy individual from the Ferraris stable and she is capable of earning her connections a cheque.
Race 8
MR 80 Handicap - 1600m
4 – 6 – 13 – 1
The well bred Starrett City (Western Winter) is doing trainer Geoff Woodruff very proud at the moment, and he can follow up under Anthony Delpech. Sean Tarry saddles, Yankee Captain (Captain Al) he is a hard knocking type and should threaten here. Western Winter has another son with credentials in this event, Blazing Winter bounced back to his very best last time out, and he could stake a claim for trainer Ormond Ferraris. Maximizer (Querari) scored over 1400m in his most recent race, the step up to a mile may be a slight concern, but he can make the frame.
