Scottsville August 3rd Preview

 Race 1

12:40 PM
Maiden Plate - 1000m
7 – 13 – 12 – 9
Lucuis Fox (Var) must have a line put through his last run, the colt did not enjoy the poly and should go close on his penultimate effort, which was a very encouraging debut performance over the course and distance, he is a solid eachway play at 10/1. Delectable Desire (Gitano Hernando) comes back from a lengthy absence of 312 days, she has earned in both starts to date and could feature if ready to produce her best form. Keep an eye on Suzie’s Soldier (Brave Tin Soldier) he ran a good third on debut and has a decent chance in a competitive maiden event. Open Court a son of a top sire (Sail From Seattle) rounded off quartets on debut and could get a bit closer to the action having had the benefit of a run.

Race 2
13:15 PM
Maiden Plate - 1400m
2 – 11 – 1 – 7
Blazing Heart (Philanthropist) Appears to be getting better with time and distance, his first start over 1400 caught the eye and he faces an average bunch today, the bay gelding deserves the utmost respect. Silva’s Bullet a son of Champion Sire (Silvano) makes his debut for the Kannemeyer yard and considering that he is a half brother to, Solid Speed (Dynasty) who is a former July contender and multiple Graded Stakes winner, he could be one for the future. Supa Mufti (Muhtafal) is bred for pure speed, but the colt did show improvement in his second run before flopping on the poly and he deserves a chance over the distance. Fire Song a bay colt by miler sensation (Black Minnaloushe) steps out for the first time in this contest, he hails from the stable of Duncan Howells and the money that has come for him must be taken seriously.

Race 3
13:50 PM
Maiden Plate (Fillies & Mares) - 2000m
5 – 1 – 6 – 8
Lungi (King Of Kings) should be about the action if she can reproduce her last run where she finished a good third to, First Anthem over the course and distance. African Honey (Silvano) definitely needed her local debut in a 1200m dash on the poly, ten furlong looks to be right up her alley being out of a Fort Wood mare, she looks quite competitive here. Victory Cross by (Brave Tin Soldier) was slightly disappointing last time out, but when it comes down to form she could definitely have a say here. French Toast is a daughter of (Mambo In Seattle) who the betting public can rely on for a quartet finish and she has claims of earning another cheque in this event.

Race 4
14:25 PM
MR 64 Handicap (Fillies & Mares) - 2000m
10 – 5 – 2 – 9
Not A Word (Judpot) must have Iines drawn through her last two outings, she is much better on the grass and can provide the upset under, Mandla Ntuli with whom she gets along very well. Liberal Sally (Lateral) should be in the mix with 2.5 off her back, she could feature over this distance, the exacta with the top selection would pay bombs. Peggy’s Dream (Jay Peg) is capable of much better than her last run might suggest, she has claims of bouncing back here. Eina (Ideal World) ran a moderate race when she was last seen on the track, she could run into the back end of quartets.

Race 5
15:00 PM
MR 82 Handicap - 1600m
1 – 7 – 6 – 4
Sylvester The Cat (Black Minnaloushe) has everything in his favour to win a race of this nature, the amount of weight he has to shoulder makes him the handicappers choice and he should go close here. Baltic Amber a son of (Alado) tends to be there abouts more often than not and he could be the next best thing to the top selection. Reactive (Bankable) rounded off quartets last time out, but was a winner on his penultimate effort, he has eachway claims. The mare, Music World (Ideal World) was bumped when last seen on the racecourse, she could contest the finish on her best form and is worth a place bet.

Race 6
15:35 PM
Pinnacle Stakes - 1000m
2 – 1 – 8 – 7
Brutal Force (Western Winter) ran a creditable three lengths off, Grade 1 Mercury Sprint winner, Bull Valley last time out and should be right there at the finish. Talktothestars (Overlord) is a former Equus Champion and a horse of his calibre can never be taken lightly, he could definitely bounce back here. Hashtag Strat (Great Britain) cannot be defined by a single bad run, her previous form was excellent and she does have claims of running a huge race. Sommerlied (Var) has won three of her four outings thus far and she could make her presence felt in this event.

Race 7
16:10 PM
MR 82 Handicap (Fillies & Mares) - 1200m
6 – 1 – 7 – 5
Shezaleader (Overlord) has been there abouts as of late, she has the right resume to take top honours in an event such as this. The beautiful bay by (Black Minnaloushe) Littleblacknumber is a much better mare than what her current form might suggest, if she produces her best ability she could be in the firing line. Diamond In The Sky (Var) harbours eachway claims in this contest, she won her most recent race and the only concern is stiffer competition. Plume Del Toro (Toreador) would be better off over 1000m as she is an out and out speed horse, but she can make the frame here.

Race 8
16:45 PM
MR 66 Handicap (Fillies & Mares) - 1200m
1 – 6 – 13 – 3
La Suerte De Martar (Toreador) has been running very well as of late and she could pick up her second career victory in this event. The 3yo bay filly by (Rebel King) Simply Scrumptious has had valid excuses recently, she is a lively contender back on grass. Bella Miesque (Miesque’s Approval) has earned in her last two starts and could be a factor on that note. The Drier stable sends out, Vanity Fair (Var) who might be able to run into the back end of quartets on what she has shown thus far.

Best Bet: Shezaleader
