Greyville Polytrack August 20th Preview

 Race 1

12.10 PM
Maiden Plate - 1600m
2 – 7 – 4 – 12
Turf Conqueror (Western Winter) has had many chances to get it right, but with that said, the gelding was a runner up when last seen in action and he gets along very well with apprentice, Diego De Gouveia who claims 1.5 kilograms. Bypass (Byword) made solid improvement last time out, he still has to prove himself on the poly, but is drawn in pole position with Anthony Delpech up which will certainly help his cause. Ratso Rizzo (Golden Sword) must have a line put through his last start, 1400m is a bit short for him and he should run a much better race back over the mile where he has placed on two occasions. Zenzero (Byword) came on leaps and bounds from his debut, he has definite claims of being involved in the shakeup.
Race 2
12.45 PM
Maiden Plate - 2000m
11 – 6 – 5 – 8
Francesco (Judpot) has placed in both starts to date and is getting closer with each run, he tries 2000m for the first time and apprentice, Dennis Schwartz takes 2.5 kilograms off his back which could make all the difference. Handsome Harvey (Miesque’s Approval) is a battling maiden, but he did manage to run second when last seen in action and does have plenty of places to his name, the gelding should be there abouts with top jockey, Keagan De Melo in the irons. Chili Affair (Western Winter) ran a much improved race in his latest performance, he could be a factor if holding his form here. Storm Hero (Gitano Hernando) showed a liking to this course and distance last time out and can earn another cheque for the connections.
Race 3
13.20 PM
Maiden Plate (Fillies & Mares) - 2000m
6 – 1 – 5 – 2
Pharoah’s Charm (The Sheik) caught the eye when making her poly debut, she got going very late over a mile on that occasion and should relish the step up in trip, she will carry 1.5 kilograms less than her original weight off 56.0 kg with apprentice, Diego De Gouveia in the saddle. Miss Ferris (Spectrum) has been a runner up in her last two starts, she is proven over the course and distance and could threaten the top selection with experienced rider, Sean Veale aboard. Yess (Casino Prince) is getting better with each and every start and it would not be a surprise to see her make further improvement here. Roy’s Kaitrina (Var) must be forgiven for a below par effort last time out, she is much better on the poly and shouldn’t be to far off them on her best form.
Race 4
13. 55 PM
MR 70 Handicap (Fillies & Mares) - 2000m
3 – 7 – 2 – 9
Crystal Ball (Visionaire) got back to winning ways in her last start, the bay filly has won over the course and distance and she could follow up with top apprentice, Eric Ngwane in the irons. Kings Lady (King’s Chapel) earned when last seen in action, she raced over 1600m on that occasion and should do much better over an extra two furlongs, the mare is certainly worth an eachway bet. Osprey (Silvano) made solid improvement in her latest performance, she is a typical example of her sires progeny and she should be in the mix if the trip does not find her out. Iced Up (Western Winter) settled for second in her most recent race, she is a generally consistent type and should be concerned with the finish.
Race 5
14.30 PM
MR 60 Handicap (Fillies & Mares) - 2000m
1 – 7 – 5 – 10
Peggy’s Dream (Jay Peg) gets the nod in a very open event, she ran a much improved race last time out and could land the score under balanced jockey, Keagan De Melo. Mad Pushpa (Windrush) was caught out by this distance on the grass when last seen in action, but she does handle it a lot better on the all weather and she can make her presence felt here. Skyfire (Dynasty) bounced back to her very best when last seen on the racecourse, she has an eachway chance of following up and the betting on her must be followed closely. Hannah’s Answer (A P Answer) did not see out ten furlong on turf in her most recent race, but she could be a different proposition on the poly with 2.5 kilograms off her back.
Race 6
15.05 PM
Pinnacle Stakes - 1600m
5 – 3 – 4 – 8
Mumsy’s Jet (Western Winter) is still enjoying life and going strong at 7 years of age, he is looking to make it three on the bounce with quality apprentice, Ashton Arries who claims 2.5 kilograms in the saddle. Wild Wicket (Dynasty) defines what a racehorse should be, hard trying and game, the gelding has only missed the money once in nine starts to date and looks very competitive on that basis. The same could be said for, Nicklaus (Point Given) who has earned on six consecutive occasions, he should be concerned with the finish if that is anything to go by. Mark My Card (Miesque’s Approval) must have her last two starts ignored, she does not stay very well on turf, but is capable of running into the money on the all weather.
Race 7
 15.40 PM
MR 70 Handicap (Fillies & Mares) - 1400m
8 – 5 – 3 – 10
Lil Gambler (Mogok) may have found a mile to far when last seen in action, her form prior to that was solid and she looks a lively contender with apprentice, Dennis Schwartz (2.5 kg) up. Noodle (Var) gives it her all when ever she comes to the races, she’s been in the money four times in a row, including two wins and punters can rely on her for decent place bets. Princess Analia (Just As Well) has earned in her last two starts, she harbours eachway claims over 7 furlongs on the poly. Fires Of Calais (Ashaawes) ran a much improved race in her latest performance and she could make the frame if holding form here.
Race 8
16.15 PM
MR 70 Handicap (Fillies & Mares) - 1400m
11 – 3 – 12 – 2
Northern Storm (Noordhoek Flyer) travelled to Kimberly where she ended up running second, she earned in the start prior to that and looks ready to win again and apprentice, Eric Ngwane will certainly know how to get the best out of her. Dundrum (Tiger Ridge) produced a promising post maiden effort and she looks extremely competitive with that in mind. Bella Miesque (Miesque’s Approval) was interfered with last time out and could be a factor if reproducing her best form. Roy’s Folly (Argonaut) has been there abouts as of late and must be included in all trifectas and quartets.
Race 9
16.50 PM
MR 66 Handicap - 1400m
6 – 5 – 12 – 4
Keep Your Light On (Fort Beluga) has had valid excuses for a very long time and today could be his day, he is reasonable drawn with Ian “Fishy” Sturgeon up. Storm Outgoing (Visionaire) has been in the money three times in a row and should be quite competitive with Tristan Godden in the saddle. London Knight (Great Britain) harbours eachway claims in this event having earned in his last two starts. Roy’s Rolls Royce (Choisir) is taking a liking to the fourth box and he could be there again or even better if things work out for him.
Best Bet: Peggy’s Dream
Value Bet: Keep Your Light On
