Australia's Biggest Race Day This Saturday At Royal Randwick

Royal Randwick hosts the inaugural $10 million The TAB Everest, the world’s richest race on turf, as one of Australia’s most anticipated sporting events of 2017, this Saturday 14 October.

The $10 million sprint explodes on to the world stage this weekend as Sydney’s own racing and entertainment spectacular in the Spring.

The huge raceday also features a special guest performance by multi-platinum recording artist Jason Derulo in the Theatre of the Horse.

Fans will be able to enjoy the exclusive 60 minute concert, Derulo’s only appearance in Australia in 2017, as part of their admission to the racecourse.

Throughout the day, expert advice on the full day’s racing is on offer in the TAB Punters Pavilion, overlooking the Theatre of the Horse on the Rose Garden Lawn. The fully covered and free marquee has uninterrupted views of the horses parading and will feature betting tips and fun throughout the afternoon ahead of the The TAB Everest, race eight, at 4.15pm.

The Fashion Chute presented by Vogue will carry a total prize pool valued at over $20,000 for the ladies and gents including; two fully flexible return flights from Sydney to any one of Emirates world-wide destinations and a Longines timepiece.

Trackside there will be complimentary makeup touch-ups by hay-u, a dry bar by Toni&Guy and the SHIEKE lounge, all on the Octagonal Lawn to keep racegoers looking fresh throughout the day.

The Family Lawn will be a covered space for families to enjoy their race day with plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained including pony rides, face painters and jumping castle.

In the lead up to the feature race, trainers and jockeys of the 12 runners will be presented to the crowd in the Theatre of the Horse before Australian music sensation Samantha Jade performs the national anthem trackside.

All eyes will then be focused on the richest race on the Australian calendar, the $10 million TAB Everest where twelve slot holders have bought their way into the race and elected horses to represent them.

The ten lucky winners in the ATC’s ‘Race In The Everest’ competition will be trackside cheering home ATC TAB Everest representative Brave Smash to claim their share in a $120,000 prize pool.

Five people were selected on both TAB Epsom Day and Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day to join the Australian Turf Club and Australian Bloodstock in the ownership of the Darren Weir-trained entire for the $10 million TAB Everest and will watch their horse from the winning post for the race.

The Japanese import will wear blinkers for the first time and will be partnered by internationally recognised jockey Jamie Spencer.

Gary Portelli’s She Will Reign leads the market at $4.80 TAB Fixed Odds following her impressive win in the Group 1 Moir Stakes on 29 September.

Vega Magic ($5.00 TAB Fixed Odds), trained by David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, will look to claim his fifth consecutive win this run and is the shorter priced runner of the three gallopers representing the stable. Last start winner Redkirk Warrior ($9.00 TAB Fixed Odds), Longines Golden Slipper placegetter Tulip ($51.00 TAB Fixed Odds) will also represent slot holders in the race.

Three-time Group 1 TJ Smith winner Chautauqua for Hawkes Racing appears on the third line of betting at $5.50 TAB Fixed Odds. The grey flash has won eight times in his career over the 1200m.

All valid pre-purchased tickets and ATC Members cards include travel on Sydney train, ferry and bus services to ensure a hassle free arrival and departure from Royal Randwick.
