In a successful defence of the Green Point Stakes Grade 2, Legal Eagle again put any doubters to rest as he captured the mile event in some style.

Playing off the pace set by by old nemesis Captain America throughout the contest, he waited his turn until Anton Marcus pressed the button on the champion. The Mayfair colours were coming from all sides in the final 300m as Captain America was being run down from his usual forward running position. 

The classy Edict Of Nantes running over a distance well short of his best produced another cracking effort to attack Captain America on the inside with Legal Eagle controlling the outside. They overpowered Captain America and ran in 1-2 as Legal Eagle won again. Sean Tarry trained Legal Eagle to this victory and has the Queens Plate squarely in his sights. 

Gold Standard, for Glen Kotzen, ran his heart out to finish 4th in a game start to his feature season, with bigger races to come. Sail South was next best. 

Legal Eagle stamped his 'best miler' status. He was bred by the Avontuur Estate and sired by Greys Inn.
