Durbanville Course Record Lowered

New Caledonia set a new course record at the country course, Durbanville in Cape Town yesterday. The Geoff Woodruff inmate broke the 1400m course record in a crushing time of 82.85 secs. The old record was held by the very talented Act Of War at 83.11secs.

The son of Right Approach recorded his fourth career win this afternoon under the urgings of the inform jockey Aldo Domeyer. The well healed partnership of James Drew, Mike Fullard, Mike Makaab, Clive Kalil and Gordon Igusend would have enjoyed that effort from their gelding. New Caledonia was born and raised at Wilgerbosdrift Stud Farm and is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Coral Garden.

In this MR 96 event both first two horses past the post broke the record such was the pace on this event.
