Nother Russia swept to the front under a perfect ride in the Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes Grade 1 and won a classy affair in fine style.

The distance of under a length belies the ease of victory as the Jessica Slack owned Mike De Kock trained daughter of Tiger Ridge claimed the prestigious race again.

Nother Russia was in a well placed 5th position almost the entire race as Al Danza led the contest and played her cards early controlling the pace and almost claiming the event.

The ease of which Nother Russia hit the front was exciting as the defending champion proved her champion status once again after a disappointing Cape campaign. She is likely at the back end of her career but was the way the Turffontein crowd acknowledged her, she will be surely missed. The favourite was backed well in the led in to the race and responded beating two of her previous conquerers.

"She full of heart and put her head down on the line. The Mile is her game and she is back to her best," said Jockey Zackey.

"I think that shows the class and caliber of the filly," said De Kock. 

"She very comfortable at Turffontein, she loves the long run," he said. 

"She will run in the R4 million ran race next, I am not convinced about the July," said De Kock of her plans 

"She is so special I am so grateful. The whole team is here. We all love her so much. Grateful to mum for breeding such a champion. She isn't easy, hats off to Mike and Mat (De Kock). I glad to get her at the sales. Very grateful to everybody," said owned Jessica Slack.
