This year’s BBAG Autumn Mixed Sale as a main part of the Sales & Racing Festival on the fourth weekend in October will be staged on two days. The sale commences on Thursday, October 22 at 11.00 a.m. for lots 1 through to 239 and will continue on Friday, October 23 at 6.00 p.m. after the races for the remaining lots and an extensive supplementary catalogue.
There is a major and positive change made in the order with the lots being offered in blocks of some 30 yearlings followed by roughly the same amount of racehorses and so forth. The 53 broodmares and 15 foals are all catalogued for Thursday while Friday will have another 76 yearlings plus 30 Lots in the supplementary catalogue.
Looking at the yearlings on offer, a Big Shuffle filly (lot 10) as a very close relative to the smart sprinter Le Big is an interesting offer just like lot 20 being a Lomitas colt out of the Group winning Tiger Hill mare Saldentigerin. A Whipper colt (87) out of the Classic placed and Listed winning Big Shuffle mare Quadrupa looks good just like a Sholokhov half-brother (90) to last year’s juvenile Group winning High Chaparral filly Serienhohe with both sires being paternal half-brothers by Sadler’s Wells.
Lot 143 is a Hawk Wing brother to leading German juvenile Noble Alpha who was runner up to Gr.1 winner Hearts of Fire in the Gr.3 Zukunfts-Rennen at Baden-Baden last month. Noble Alpha is now favourite for the Gr.3 Preis des Winterfavoriten on Sunday.
Also interesting is an own brother (280) to the 2009 Group III Hamburger Meile victor Earl Of Fire.
Gestüt Röttgen offers Listed winner and former German Derby favourite Daressalam (37) while the Big Shuffle filly Hashbrown (41) is also a valuable broodmare prospect.
Two filly foals (lots 169 and 170) by the leading sires Singspiel and Shamardal respectively and from the immediate family of the Group winners Konig Turf and Konig Shuffle should attract major attention. Also Gestut Hofgut Heymann will send a filly (166) by Irish Derby and Arc winner Hurricane Run into the sales ring.
Broodmares of the likes of the Stakes winning Acatenango mare Luttje Lage (110) and Think Twice (120) as a daughter of Second Set and being in foal to Silvano and Sholokhov respectively should not go unmentioned either. Lot 106 Burgberg Lady in foal to Sabiango is the dam of dual Listed winner Bella Platina while Lot 114 is a daughter of Guineas winner Quebrada from the family of recent Gr.3 winner Querari. She is in foal to Silvano (pictured).
