RACE 1:MAIDEN PLATE 1200m Straight

ALAN'S PRIDE was just pipped close home this C & D last time. That was his best run to date and must have claims on that run. Two first timers worth considering are DONEGAL (Mike De Kock) and ILLUSIVE START (Alec Laird). The betting could be your best guide, but they were both fairly expensive purchases. NATIONAL SECURITY has had a few decent runs and could pick up his maiden last time. Jockey dropped whip last time and may have gone closer as a result. TARQUIN may improve on a moderate debut last time.

RACE 2:MAIDEN PLATE 1200m Straight

Of those that have run FEDERER may be best equipped to win, but he is proving expensive to follow. He will be running on and is never too far back. Another two first timers look as if they could be above average. INKANYEZI (Mike De Kock) and AL'S MARK (Charles Laird) could be good enough to be considered for the wins. CAPTAIN UNIVERSE has improved in his last two starts. WARWICKDALE disappointed last time. He has placed this C & D and must rate a fair chance. Stable is off form.

SELECTIONS: 1st - FEDERER * (2); 2nd - INKANYEZI (11); 3rd - AL'S MARK (9)

RACE 3:MAIDEN PLATE (F & M) 2000m Bend

EMERALD DREAM (Mike De Kock) has had two fair runs to date. She has yet to come remotely close to running over this distance but could be suited to it. Watch for further improvement. ELOISE could be the biggest danger and she has had three decent career starts. COOL CRYSTAL is bound to improve on a promising debut last time. Do not leave out. The blinkers may make the difference to the chance of AROMATIC LEAVES. PRINCESS TINA is never too far back and could be a decent outsider to follow.

RACE 4:MAIDEN PLATE 1450m Bend

QUEENSWAY has some steady form and she has placed this C & D. That was in her last start when racing from the widest draw. If that run were to be repeated today, then she could be the one to beat. ROMANCE IN THE AIR (Mike De Kock) made a decent debut last time over 1000m. The extra 450m may suit more. Was running on well in that debut run. FIRST SOVEREIGN has had two thirds in her two career starts to date. She did fade over shorter last time but consider all the same over the extra distance. The first timer COUNTRY ROSE may be worth considering with Anton Marcus riding. SOCIAL PROSPECTOR has had some fair runs over shorter and may also be in the mix.

RACE 5:ALLOWANCE PLATE (F & M) 1450m Bend

MY KAZZIE is well weighted and has faced far stronger. Anton Marcus rides for Neil Bruss and one can expect an honest run from her today. KIRIBATI has also faced far stronger and must have a very good shout even though her form has not been that impressive of late. HALTERNECK has not run since May but she has won her last two and may have benefited from the break. Anthony Delpech rides for Mike De Kock. JO PIPER is never too far back but has a tendency to fade late when not in the mood. AUTUMN SPLENDOUR has a chance if running on while ASIAN AFFAIR has some steady form but has not won in a while.

RACE 6:PINNACLE STAKES 1600m Bend

IVORY TRAIL ran on to win well last time despite having lost ground at the start. He has always been a talented sort but had not shown in ages before that last run. Has every chance of repeating even though he has to carry 61kg. DANCE AT DAYLIGHT is never too far back and should be running on. He loves this distance. Four of his five wins have been over the "mile". Jockey Anthony Delpech has another good chance in this race with the ex-Zimbabwean trained WINTER'S NIGHT. he is a gutsy sort and should be respected. THANDOLWAMI should never be left out and he has faced far stronger. KING FERNANDO did not respond when wearing the blinkers in his last two. Races better without. Respect today.

RACE 7:MR 94 Divided Hcp 1200m Straight

JET COMMAND has been very consistent. He loves this C & D and if at best will be running on. Strong chance in this field. GOOD THING has won his last two starts, also when finding more late and the hat trick could be on the cards. BE ASSURED may find this tougher. He is in good form and with the light mass should not be left out. CATCHA CALL showed a sudden form return last time when winning. He has won on five occasions and all five have been over 1200m. Respect on that alone. KINGS CROSS is consistent but he has been fading at the wrong time.

SELECTIONS: 1st - JET COMMAND ** (2); 2nd - GOOD THING (1); 3rd - BE ASSURED (7)

RACE 8:MR 78 Divided Hcp 1200m Straight

ZACKLY returns from a nine month rest. He races well over further but on his comeback run may find this distance more to his liking. Include as your "roughie" for the day. DESTINY BAY ran a good post maiden run last time and all three of his career runs have looked to be above average. Not one to leave out of any bets. The Paul Matchett stable raids with OKEECHOBEE who won very impressively last time when breaking his maiden at the fourth attempt, on sand at the Vaal. He may need to confirm but he does pose a threat in this field. TAKE OVER TARGET did face much stronger last time in the KZN 1200. Before that he won two in a row. Respect as he could be right there. Has not run in three months. C & D suited. JUNGLE CALL has Anton Marcus up and form is fair. Chance if running on. UPDATE: 12h00. A flood of money has come for BADER. From an opening call of 12/1 it is now favourite at 4/1.
