SUPERB CATALOGUE FOR 2012 NATIONAL SALE

There is a truly outstanding crop of yearlings catalogued to sell at the 2012 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. While slightly smaller in terms of numbers than previous years, the quality of South Africa’s most accomplished sale remains as high as ever.

The majority of South Africa’s leading breeders are well represented at the National Sale this year, and the 467 yearlings listed to sell sport some of the best bloodlines around. Top local and international stallions are well represented on this sale.

Leading South African sires represented on the sale include;Jet Master (17), Captain Al (21), Dynasty (15), Silvano (30), Fort Wood (16), Western Winter (8), Trippi (22) and Var (21), to name but a few.

There are also a number of yearlings on offer by such well performed promising young sires as A P Arrow, Jay Peg, Horse Chestnut, Rebel King, Admire Main andArgonaut.

Below are just a few of the stand out lots at this year’s superb National Sale.

Lot 18- a colt by champion sire Jet Master. He is out of Complete Warrior mare, Hunter’s Glen, and is a half-brother to G1 winner Ivory Trail.Consigned by Cheveley Stud.

Lot 20- a filly by leading sire Captain Al,whose G1 winning daughters include Captain’s Lover, Captain’s Gal and Emerald Cove. She is a half-sister to G1 winner Zeeno. She is consigned by The Alchemy.

Lot 21- a filly by the well bred and successful sire Tiger Ridge. She is a daughter of former Horse of the Year Ilha da Vitoria and is a half-sister to recent Gauteng Fillies Guineas runner up Ilha Bela. Consigned by Wilgerbosdrift.

Lot 86- this is a superbly bred filly. A daughter of the cracking young sire Trippi, she is out of the Elliodor matron, Mamushka, and is thus a half-sister to outstanding international sprinter, Tiza. The latter was a 12 time graded stakes winner in France and South Africa. Consigned by Daytona Stud.

Lot 110 - a colt by the outstanding 2yo sire, Captain Al. He is a half-brother to former champion sprinter Mythical Flight. Out of a Harry Hotspur mare, this colt is bred to fly. He hails from The Alchemy.

Lot 128 - a filly by champion sire Western Winter. Western Winter’s top fillies include Covenant, Bad Girl Runs and Lady Windermere. She is out of G3 winning mare, whose granddam is champion Olympic Duel. Consigned by Varsfontein (as Agent).

Lot 191 - a colt by Jet Master, sire of such legends as Pocket Power, River Jetez and J J The Jet Plane. He is out of the G1 winner Sarabande, and is a half-brother to the top-class performer, Chesalon. Consigned by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm.

Lot 196 - a colt by Captain Al, who is among the leading sires year in and year out. He is out of brillant sprinter Secret Of Victoria, and is an own brother to brilliant, unbeaten 2yo, All Is Secret. Consigned by KLawervlei Stud (as Agent)

Lot 229 - is a filly who is bound to prove popular. She is by the tremendous racehorse and wonderful sire, Rock of Gibraltar, whose offspring have done well all around the world. This bay is out of a G3 winning own sister to G1 winner Sixty Seconds. This well bred miss is offered up for sale by Ascot Stud.

Lot 237 - a daughter of Trippi, whose first crop include brilliant fillies Agra and Franny. The filly is out of the former brilliant racefilly, State Factor. She is consigned by Drakenstein Stud.

Lot 242 - a colt by proven US sire Trippi, whose first crop have taken South Africa by storm. Beautifully bred, he is out of a G1 winner Stratos, who is a daughter of ill-fated champion sire Jet Master. Consigned by Drakenstein Stud.

Lot 252 - a son of champion Captain Al. This colt scored an amazing 19.5 out of 20 by the selection panel. He is an own brother to Fillies Guineas winner Captain’s Lover and is a half-brother to recent G1 scorer Ebony Flyer. Consigned by Klipdrif Stud (as Agent).

Lot 289 - is by one of the world’s most exciting sires. This colt is a son of unbeaten champion Teofilo, whose first crop of 2yos include a G1 winner in Parish Hall. His dam is a half-sister to top class filly Moonflute, and this is the immediate family of Australian G1 winner Absolute Glam. He is consigned to the sale by Summerhill Sales.

Lot 294 - a filly by Captain Al. She is out of Urabamba, a G1 winning daughter of champion sire Fort Wood. Fort Wood is also the broodmare sire of Breeders Cup winner Pluck. Consigned by Klipdrif Stud (as Agent).

Lot 302 - a daughter of Jet Master, sire of G1 winning fillies, River Jetez, Ebony Flyer and Stratos, to name but a few. She is out of the G1 performer Vogue, and is a half-sister to millionaire, Fort Vogue.Consigned by Clifton Stud.

Lot 319 - a colt by triple champion sire Western Winter, sire of G1 winners Yard-Arm, Solo Traveller and Winter Solstice to name just a few. He is a half-brother to three graded performers, and is an own brother to G1 filly My Kazzie. Consigned by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm.

Lot 328 - a colt by champion sire Fort Wood, sire of Dynasty, Horse Chestnut and Celtic Grove – all of whom were named Horse of the Year. He is a full brother to Dubai winner Zanzamar and a half-brother to unbeaten, brilliant 2yo Ziparana. Consigned by Danika Stud.

Lot 330 - a colt by outstanding sire Silvano, sire of leading Dubai World Cup hopeful Bold Silvano among a string of top-class runners. Out of a Zilzal mare, this colt is a half-brother to G1 winner James Jaguar.Consigned by Maine Chance Farms.

Lot 334 - a filly by the great racehorse and sire Dynasty. Out of an Al Mufti mare, she is a half-sister to G1 winner Little Miss Magic. Consigned by Varsfontein Stud.Lot 337 a colt by Jet Master, whose stock are always sought after in the sales ring. He is out of a mare by Darshaan, and is a half-brother to G1 winner Alexandra Rose, herself a G3 winner in North America. Consigned by Varsfontein Stud.

Lot 342 - is a colt by Lizard Island, a son of dual Breeders Cup winner Lure. This colt is a full brother to the ill-fated G1 Singapore Airlines International Cup winner, Lizard’s Desire. That champion was also touched off in the world’s richest race, the G1 Dubai World Cup. Consigned by Ascot Stud (as Agent)

Lot 364 - a filly by champion sire Fort Wood, sire of top fillies Urabamba, Dog Wood, Kimberley Mine, etc. The filly is out of champion racemare Bold Ellinore, winner of the G1 Garden Province Stakes. Consigned by Wilgerbosdrift.

Lot 391 - a colt by the red hot sire Trippi, who is the leading first crop sire in South Africa. He is out of the Model Man mare, Compass Point, and is a half-brother to former G1 Cape Guineas winner Pointing North (now competing overseas). Consigned by Drakenstein Stud.

Lot 398 - a filly by Kahal, one of South Africa’s most consistent sires of stakes winners. He is a half-brother to champion sprinter Rebel King, now a sought after sire. Kahal’s fillies include the G1 winners Spiced Gold, Noble Heir and Chocolicious. Consigned by Summerhill Sales.

Lot 402 - colt by Silvano,whose outstanding performers include this season’s top-class 3yo Silver Flyer amongst others. Out of the Elliodor mare, Cry for the Lion, the colt is a full brother to G1 Summer Cup/Gold Cup winner Aslan. Consigned by The Alchemy.

Lot 409 - is a son of one of the world’s most exciting sire prospects. This bay is by the great racehorse (and superbly bred) Henrythenavigator. A four time G1 winner, Henrythenavigator won the 2000 Guineas and was second in the G1 Breeders Cup Classic. This colt is from the family of G1 winners Ruby Clipper and Seventh Rock. He is offered up by Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud.

Lot 457 - a colt by the well bred young sire Sail From Seattle, a son of the great Gone West. This colt is a half-brother to current 2yo sensation Soft Falling Rain, an unbeaten winner of the Listed Storm Bird Stakes. Consigned by Highlands Farm.
