SHEA SHEA HEADING OVERSEAS

The winner of the Grade 1 Golden Horse Casino Sprint last year and of the Grade 1 Computaform Sprint at Turffontein at the end of April, Shea Shea, is heading for the international arena and will not run in the big race at Scottsville on May 26.

Trainer Geoff Woodruff revealed on Monday evening that an overseas campaign for the four-year-old son of National Emblem was being planned.

“We won’t be accepting for the Scottsville race as we are hoping to get him out of the country.”

He said they were looking at Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai – “wherever the big sprints are.”

The gelding, out of the Jallad mare Yankee Clipper, has won eight of his 16 starts and demolished a hot field of sprinters in the Scottsville race last year beating August Rush by nearly a length.

At Turffontein in the Computaform Sprint he beat Magico by 2.25 lengths in a time of 56.50 secs in the race where both the mare Val De Ra and the mighty J J The Jet Plane ran poor races and have subsequently been retired.
