FIRST WINNER FOR MAMBO


Moutonshoek’s blue blooded young sire, Mambo In Seattle, was represented by his first winner when Motivate Mambo thrashed his field to win by four and a half lengths over 1000m.
Bred by the Wicklow Stud, Motivate Mambo is out of the four time winning Lecture mare, Motivation. The colt was a R50 000 buy at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
Mambo In Seattle was a world-class racehorse, who won the Henry Walton Stakes, and was beaten the shortest of short heads in the 2008 Travers Stakes. “Mambo” also ran fourth, behind dual Horse Of The Year Curlin, in the Gr1 Jockey Club Gold Cup.
A beautifully bred horse, Mambo In Seattle is a son of outstanding sire Kingmambo, sire of world leading sires Lemon Drop Kid, King Kamehameha and champion French sire King’s Best. “Mambo”’s sire produced no fewer than 24 individual Grade/Group One winners , and Kingmambo’s offspring have earned in excess of $134 million in prize money.
Mambo In Seattle (a three parts brother to multiple Champion and leading sire Lemon Drop Kid) is out of the Grade One placed mare Weekend In Seattle.
Weekend In Seattle is a full-sister to champion US sire A.P. Indy, and a half-sister to leading sires Summer Squall, Honor Grades and Tiger Ridge.
Second dam, Weekend Surprise, who was Broodmare of the Year in 1992, is a half-sister to former champion South African sire, Al Mufti.
Mambo In Seattle, whose first crop are now two, has been represented by three runners to date – one is a winner, while another has been placed.
