Two Year old sale: BLACK MINNALOUSHE FILLY TOPS DAY ONE

1
A daughter of Maine Chance Farms’ resident sire Black Minnaloushe topped the first day of trading at the 2014 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.
Catalogued as lot 117, the bay was consigned by Varsfontein Stud (As Agent) and knocked down to owner Brian Burnard for R360 000.
Named Malou, the attractive bay is out of the Spectrum mare Colour Fast, a winning half-sister to champion filly Consensual.
Overall prices remained steady one day of the 2yo Sale, with the average dropping 3% from R80 667 in 2013 to R78 073. However, the median price rose by 14% from R52 500 to R60 000. Five more horses went unsold as opposed to nine in 2013, while vendor buy backs dropped from 15 to nine in 2014.

TBA’s CEO Jan Naude was positive about the day’s outcome, commenting post-sale,” It was pleasing to see, notwithstanding a much bigger catalogue than in 2013, that the price levels have been maintained this year. It was also pleasing to note a substantial increase in the median price.”
A full list of prices and statistics will be available after the three day sale, which continues on Thursday at 10:30 am.
