Soft Falling Rain retired to Stud

Sheikh Hamdan's star colt Soft Falling Rain,  trained by Mike De Kock, has been sold to stud.

The Highlands Farm bred son of National Assembly was bought by Mary Slack's Wilgerbosdrift establishment and will be returned to South Africa for the current breeding season. Shares will be available for purchase and Sheikh Hamdan has also retained shares in the smart colt.

Soft Falling Rain won the Grade 2 Godolphin Mile in Dubai and followed that up with a sparkling performance in England in the Grade 2 Nayef Joel Stakes and concluding with one more ran in the 2013 Queen Anne Stakes before retirement. His best juvenile performance was the Grade 1 S A Nursery win.

Out of Gardener’s Delight by Giant’s Causeway, he was a R350,000 yearling at the initial Bloodstock SA Cape Yearling Sale in 2011.

He will be remembered for his stunning looks and breathtaking performances. When at his best, he could mix it with almost any miler. He will be a valuable addition to the stallion ranks in South Africa.
