How does an 800 Guinea (R15 000) yearling win a Grade 1?

Fairytale filly EURO CHARLINE, purchased at Tattersalls as a yearling for the minimum bid of 800 guineas, landed the Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes for trainer Marco Botticelli and owner Team Valor. The Beverly D. Is one of America's iconic fillies events.

The extraordinary rags to riches tale began when the filly by MYBOYCHARLIE out of the COMMON GROUNDS mare EUROLINK ARTEMIS was knocked down to Old Buckenham Stud for 800 guineas at the 2012 Tattersalls February Sale where she was consigned by Brookside Stud. She was subsequently resubmitted at Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale where she was knocked down to Scuderia Blueberry for 13,000 guineas.

A wide margin winner of her first two starts for trainer Marco Botti and owners Scuderia Blueberry, EURO CHARLINE was then sold to Barry Irwin's Team Valor for whom she finished fifth in the 1000 Guineas, third in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes and won the Listed Valiant Stakes, before landing her first win at the highest level at Arlington.
