IRISH SALES GRADUATES TO THE FORE AT THE CURRAGH

OL’ MAN RIVER (IRE) (pictured above) made an impressive winning debut at the Curragh on Sunday for trainer Aidan O’Brien. The son of Montjeu (IRE) out of Finsceal Beo (IRE) topped last year’s Goffs Orby sale when MV Magnier went to €2.85 million to secure the colt. He travelled with ease throughout only getting tired close to home, his trainer said after the win: “I’m delighted with that. He’s never been away and that was his first day on the track. They went a good gallop and I thought it was a good, solid race. He travelled strong, cruised into the lead, and was bound to get tired after going that gallop first time out.” Bred by Michael Ryan, OL’ MAN RIVER (IRE) holds big race entries and is bred for great things; Finsceal Beo (IRE) is a classic winning filly having won both the UK and Irish Guineas. Goffs Orby Sale kicks off on the 30th September, and consists of some of Ireland’s best yearlings by all the leading sires.

Jessica Harrington has another smart 2-y-o on her hands as JACK NAYLOR gave a gutsy performance to win the Listed fillies Flame of Tara European Breeders Fund Stakes. Running in the colours of Gerard Byrne, JACK NAYLOR now looks set for a step up in class and goes to France for the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac. Bred by Oliver Costello, she was purchased by her trainer for a mere €10,500 at Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale. Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale takes place 23rd-24th September with Part 2 on the 25th September.

CAPPELLA SANSEVERO bounced back to winning ways in the Group 3 Nestle Supporting Irish Autism Action Round Tower Stakes. Settling just behind the pace, Andrea Atzeni produced him a furlong out and he picked up well and galloped all the way to the line. His trainer Ger Lyons commenting on his future plans said: “It’s all systems go for the Middle Park. He’s the right horse to go for it. He’s not ground dependant.” It was a great day for Goffs sales toppers as CAPPELLA SANSEVERO was purchased at the inaugural Goffs London Sale by Sheikh Fahad Al Thani for £1.3 million. Goffs will hold a boutique Horses in Training Sale during Ireland’s Champions weekend. The sale will take place prior to racing at Leopardstown on Saturday 13th September.
