BALLYDOYLE FILLY QUALIFIES FOR BIGGER TARGETS

The O’Brien father-son duo struck again in the Group 3 Weld Park Stakes, this time with QUALIFY (IRE), a daughter of Coolmore’s Fastnet Rock. Finishing placed to promising juveniles in her first two starts, she caught people’s attention when winning a Dundalk maiden impressively by 5 ½ lengths. She then went on to finish close behind the highly-rated Cursory Glance in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes. Sunday’s race saw her track the six runner field, before making a move before the two furlong marker and quickening well to win by 3 lengths. The change of tactics was key to her impressive victory, and her improvement sees her trainer aiming her for the Group 1 Fillies Mile at Newmarket next month.

Owned by Louis and Kate Ronan, Qualify (IRE) was bred by Whisperview Trading out of the Galileo mare Perihelion (IRE) who finished second in the Park Hill Stakes. Her dam also bred dual Group 1 winner Brian Boru, multiple Group 2 winner Sea moon, as well as Soviet Moon IRE)- the dam of Champion 3yo Workforce. Qualify’s full brother is to be sold at Goffs’ Orby sale this week, as lot 425.
