Former Summer Cup winner Strategic News was represented by his first winner when his 3yo son Strategic’s Pride won by four and a quarter lengths over 1600m at Greyville on Sunday.

Bred and owned by Jurie Snyman, Strategic’s Pride was produced by the Giant’s Causeway mare Giant’s Jewel – a top class racemare who won three and ran second in the Gr2 Sceptre Stakes.

His sire Strategic News, who currently stands at Rathmor Stud for a fee of R20 000, was a top class racehorse.
By successful Australian sire Strategic, Strategic News raced in South Africa over three seasons, and amassed over R1.2 million in stakes. He scored the biggest win of his career when successful in the Grade 1 Summer Cup of 2007, where Strategic News accounted for such top class performers as Our Giant (Mercury Sprint), Malteme (Summer Cup), Silverpoint (SA Derby) and champions Earl Of Surrey, Equal Image, and Festive Occasion.

Sent to Dubai, Strategic News won a handicap over 1600m first time out.
