South African appointed as Singapore's new Racing Man

Gareth Pepper has been appointed to the plum job of raceday on-course presenter and host of Singapore Racing's pre-race show, TrackTalk.

The likeable South African will be starting in January and concluded his final interview a few weeks back in Singapore.

Craig Evans, the senior broadcaster in Singapore,  approached Pepper for the opening earlier this year in Cape Town.

Pepper has had a variety of experience in South Africa. From TV presenting to equine advisor and bloodstock agent, he has a drive and ambition that few his age have in racing and will be a loss to the local industry.

However,  he is a new breed of young up and coming racing products that will hold his own on the world stage. Starting out in the Mike Azzie yard during his holidays and then working for the world class bloodstock agent, Robin Bruss, he has gained experience from all facets of racing.

"It's a dream job in a first world city," he told SAHorseracing.COM in an interview.

"I will be working with some of the best broadcasting equipment and people at a great turf club, one of the world's best," he continued.

"I am grateful for the opportunity provided and hope to do South Africa proud. The Turf Club have been so good with my relocation. It's been amazing," mentioned Pepper.

We wish him well for his new venture. He joins other South Africans at the Singapore Turf Club including Vice President of racing, Mike Wanklin, Senior Manager Debbie Hawkins and trainer Pat Shaw, amongst a host of others working for the club.
