Another photograph used to decide Cape Town feature
The start to this feature race in this was a far better than the previous one but the finish was just as tight. Another photograph was needed to separate the two horses that fought out the finish. The judges decided in the favour of the Joey Ramsden trained BRUTAL FORCE. One can never leave Joey Ramsden out of the winner's enclosure on a Cape Town feature race day.
The start was level and there was a mad scramble for the lead and there was no definite leader in the early stages. When they eventually settled down, the Gauteng raider, CAPTURED WIND had the lead with two Gauteng raiders, SILENCE DESCENDS and PRECURSOR in second and third respectively. CAPTAIN BLACKWATER led the Justin Snaith trio.
Halfway down the straight the race began to unfold and a clearer picture was evident. The main contenders had emerged with BRUTAL FORCE, ridden by Piere Strydom and ZAMBEZI RIVER with champion jockey for last season, S'Manga Khumalo fighting it out for major honours. The Sean Tarry trained ZAMBEZI RIVER was game in defeat and he will certainly win his fair share of races.
BELOVED COUNTRY moved up too late and he was far from disgraced. PRECURSOR stayed on well for fourth and his was a workmanlike run.
