Grade 1 Klawervlei Majorca Stakes (WFA): As Cold As Ice to freeze her opponents

Trainer Joey Ramsden has another very good chance of grabbing a Grade 1 this afternoon with his Western Winter filly, COLD AS ICE. Apart from her debut where she ran a very good second behind DOUBLE WHAMMY, she won her next five starts and in doing so turned the tables on DOUBLE WHAMMY on two occasions in no uncertain terms. There is no DOUBLE WHAMMY in this race but there are some very useful looking fillies against which she is going to have to contend. The five races she has won have been won by an average of three lengths and against some strong fields as well. This is the first time she travels as far as 1600m. When she won over 1400m she ran on from off the pace and I guess that would the plan for this afternoon as well. She has a new jockey riding her for the first time and no one would mind having the maestro himself, Piere Strydom aboard this classy filly. She does look hard to beat, but those words have been uttered by millions of punters and supporters of this sport many times before.

INARA, from the Mike Bass yard, won the Grade 1 Paddock Stakes over much shorter last time. This distance should not pose any problems. This daughter of Trippi has finished second over this C & D and that was when she ran over the distance for the first time. Expect another good effort from INARA and she could quite easily make COLD AS ICE work for her victory.

JET BELLE finished less than half a length behind INARA in the Paddock Stakes but is 1 kg better off and looks likely to run as close or even reverse that order this afternoon.

SUPREME SUNSET takes on much stronger this afternoon but she did stay on nicely that day and could sneak into to make the quartets pay.

ARCETRI PINK ran on well last time and she has contested races with some very good fillies, mares and horses, the most noticeable being BEACH BEAUTY and LEGISLATE. She will be tuned in for the big race and has big race temperament.
