FIRST WINNER FOR QUERARI

Maine Chance Farms’ exciting young first crop sire Querari was represented by his first winner when the well bred filly Spring Wonder made a winning debut at the Vaal on Thursday.

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, the eye catching 2yo Spring Wonder, who races in the distinctive Adriaan and Rika Van Vuuren silks, proved too strong for her rivals when landing the spoils convincingly in a maiden juvenile plate over 1200m.

Spring Wonder, who is out of the Joshua Dancer mare Spring Ahead was a R650 000 purchase from the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
Her sire Querari surely rates amongst the best performed young horses currently standing at stud in South Africa. A top flight performer himself, Querari’s victories included a triumph in the Group 1 Premio Presidente Repubblica, and two other black type victories.
He is a son of champion sprinter Oasis Dream, who is one of Europe’s leading stallions with more than 90 stakes winners to his credit, including such top class G1 winners as Midday, Prohibit, Charming Thought, Tuscan Evening and Arcano.
Querari is out of the stakes winning Acatenango mare Quetena, whose dam is the classic winning mare Quebrada.
This exciting young stallion has 2 lots on offer at Sunday’s Val De Vie Yearling Sale:

Lot 54 is a half sister to the promising 2yo Baloo Baleerie, who won most impressively the other day. Out of a half sister to G1 filly Fairy Queen, this filly’s numerous top class relatives include such Gr1 horses as Forest Ivory and Hawthorn.

Lot 84 is a filly whose dam is a half sister to two black type performers, including Gold Bowl hero Western Walk. This is a top filly family, whose members include the outstanding classic winner Pacific Blue.
