HAMMIE'S HOOKER, boots home another winner for Mike Bass in the GRADE 3 PRIX DU CAP
The five year old TRIPPI mare, HAMMIE'S HOOKER, produced a good finish to win the Grade 3 PRIX DU CAP at Kenilworth on Saturday. With the exception of ZACHARIAS, the field broke well in this 1400m event.
The first to show was ANTONIA'S FORTRESS who led from MISS SAIGON, MAYBE YES and the eventual winner, HAMMIE'S HOOKER. As they settled down to tackle the far bend into the home straight, MISS SAIGON took the lead from MAYBE YES, ANTONIA'S FORTRESS, CRYSTAL CAVERN and an improving RED FLAME who was beginning to look for a better position prior to the entry into the home straight.
At the top of the straight, MISS SAIGON still held the lead. The only significant change to the order was when HAMMIE'S HOOKER moved up to within striking distance.
The complexion of the race changed with 200m to go when HAMMIE'S HOOKER burst into the lead with RED FLAME in hot pursuit. These two were left to fight it out for major honours ahead MAYBE YES and ANTONIA'S FORTRESS.
