QUEEN OF THE SAND (Listed) - AHLAAM impressed in win last time against weaker

Don't be fooled by the rise in class of the Mike De Kock trained AHLAAM as most of the horses in with chances in this field are also up in class from last time. Her latest win was an impressive one and she warrants the utmost respect. Top jockey, Johnny Geroudis made a return to riding in this country from a long and successful stint riding in Mauritius when he partnered AHLAAM to that comfortable win last time  over this course and  distance. Always handily placed she ran on well to win by almost eight lengths.

Trainer Corne Spies has been in good form this past month and he has won his fair share of features in both Gauteng and KZN. Despite not being certain to get the trip,  FIRE DANCING  comes into this race with a huge drop in class and a light mass of 50kg. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that she could cause an upset in this race, were she to see out the extra.

ROYAL TRIP has won three from four at this track. The TRIPPI progeny has been having success at feature race level in recent times. She was a surprise winner last time, even after a slow start. One to respect.

JULIE DOOLITTLE is one of only a few fillies in this race who step down in class. This daughter of HORSE CHESTNUT has a decent record to date and has a definite money chance in this field.

FIRE WHEEL has been disappointing of late but has a small chance on her penultimate run. Of course it will be foolish to ignore trainer Sean Tarry and jockey S'Manga Khumalo.
