GERALD ROSENBERG STAKES (Grade 2) - TAMAANEE shows her class against older fillies
The Sean Tarry trained and S'Manga Khumalo ridden TAMAANEE showed her class against older horses when she won the Grade 2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes by three lengths. On this performance she will be one to keep an eye on in her future quests.
The field of thirteen runners broke well. TAMAANEE and FORTITUDE were the first to show. S'Manga Khumalo was content to allow MOHAVE PRINCESS and AMBER ORCHID to set the pace up front. Always in touch and well placed throughout, the result never seemed in any doubt, especially in the soft going and light mass. Others that briefly showed around the back straight and turn were MYSTIC TIGRESS and TOUCH THE SKY.
MOHAVE PRINCESS and AMBER ORCHID stayed in front until the 300m when TAMAANEE took over the lead and just kept on finding extra. VINO VERITAS ran on well late for second but was never going to catch TAMAANEE. AMBER ORCHID stayed on well for third ahead of the fast finishing TOUCH THE SKY.
TAMAANEE could be headed to KZN for the Winter Season. She has pushed her earnings up to just under R1,2 million after her third win.
