STRELITZIA STAKES (Grade 3) - Royal Pleasure makes it three out of three
The Glen Kotzen trained daughter of VISIONAIRE, ROYAL PLEASURE maintained her unbeaten record by winning all three of her starts. Interestingly the two year old filly has only run at this track and must be considered for another feature race or two this Winter Season, especially at this track.
The field broke well but they all made their way to the inside where the going was best. TONI PERFORMS, drawn near the inside, was the first to show from MAYFAIR, drawn in second with ROYAL PLEASURE, further out. PRINCESS ROYAL was struggling to keep pace with the front three but was handily placed all the same.
At the halfway point the race had taken on a different complexion. MARIA ESTELLA had moved up in to the firing line along with the PE trained BALOO BALEERIE. The two market rivals, ROYAL PLEASURE and PRINCESS ROYAL were further back.
At the 300m marker the race looked over as a contest with the battle being on for minor money. ROYAL PLEASURE had drawn clear and had the race sewn up. Jockey Anton Marcus took the foot off the pedal in the last 100m. MIRACLE RISING found a good finish to grab second while PRINCESS ROYAL, who obviously has her problems, fought on for third from a fast finishing MISS NIGHTINGALE, who could be worth following over slightly further.
