POINSETTIA STAKES (Grade 3) - JET BELLE wins a good contest in fine style
The race was delayed when AFRICAN DREAM dislodged the rider when she broke through the pens. The balance of the field was withdrawn as she made her way back towards the parade ring. When they eventually broke RICH GIRL found the lead on the inside. GOLDIE COAST and CHOIR MAIDEN were slow into stride.
Following RICH GIRL in the early stages was CAVIAR. Behind them were LITTLEBLACKNUMBER and the fancied JET BELLE.
The favourite led them for about 700m but with about 400m left the writing was on the wall. Glen Kotzen won his second feature race win when his filly, JET BELLE, hit the front at the 300m mark. She did feel some pressure from VARIKATE who was finding a good finish. At the end it was an effortless four length victory. The fast finishing really flew late and could be watched next time. RED FLAME also found a good finish in the latter stages.
The win, which did not come as that much of a surprise, given her last few runs when finishing close behind INARA in Grade 1 races. This was her seventh win from twenty one starts.
