THE SCARLET LADY (Listed) - CAPTAIN'S DAUGHTER finishes well to claim the spoils
The Charles Laird daughter of CAPTAIN AL took well to the step up in class this afternoon when she won a good contest over 1750m. ZACHARIAS, normally slow, was left standing in the stalls.
The early leader at a decent pace, SAN TRIP, led from CAPTAIN'S DAUGHTER, ALINA, the in form, ALICE SPRINGS and ACROSTAR. There wasn't much change along the back straight and around the bend, except that ASH CLOUD began to make progress.
As the reached the top of the home straight it looked very much as though ALICE SPRINGS was going to be a serious contender for top honours but those thoughts were soon dispelled when CAPTAIN'S DAUGHTER found a strong finish to draw away in the latter stages. Down in class from her last few runs, EUPHORIA produced an electrifying finish to fill second place. SAN TRIP stayed on for a creditable third and has been extremely consistent. ASH CLOUD also stayed on and finished fourth.
This was jockey Anton Marcus's third winner this afternoon.
