GLENLAIR TROPHY (Listed) - CROWN OF GOLD takes the crown
The Tara Laing yard scored a feature race double this afternoon when they won back to back features at Fairview. The main feature of the day was won by another Ingrid and Markus Jooste owned horse, CROWN OF GOLD. Patiently ridden, jockey Raymond Danielson, had him perfectly placed throughout the race in either second or third. He pounced just before they reached the home straight but was given plenty of cheek by the Cape Town raider, PADDY O'REILLY from the James Stewart yard, under big race rider, Bernard Fayd'Herbe.
The pace initially was ultra slow in the "2 mile" marathon even. WESTERN WONDER led the race from the jump to the time, six hundred metres from the line. TAARISH and CROWN OF GOLD were always handily placed and ready to mount their attack. PADDY O'REILLY was always near the rear with DRILL SARGEANT.
CROWN OF GOLD move3d up around the turn to take over the lead while TAARISH and WESTERN WONDER began to fall behind. It was left to PADDY O'REILLY to do the chasing. DRILL SARGEANT found a goo finish ensuring a first and third for the Tara Laing yard and well as the Ingrid and Markus Jooste ownership.
The win, the eighth of the six year old son of the wonderful staying sire, SILVANO, pushed his earnings to above three-quarters of a million Rand
