The NHRA (National Horseracing Authority) have confirmed that Gauteng jockey, Randall Simons, has been suspended for fourteen days. The decision was made at the inquiry at NHRA's Head Office on 31 July 2015.

He was charged with a contravention of Rules 77.1.1 and 77.2.8, in that a urine specimen taken from him at Turffontein Racecourse on 25 April 2015 disclosed upon analysis the presence of Codeine which is an opiate and a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge but was found guilty.

Mr Simons has the right to appeal against the outcome as well as the penalty imposed.
