WORLD SPORTS BETTING AUGUST STAKES (Grade 3) - The back in form CAPTAIN HADDOCK to beat competitive field

The seven year old CAPTAIN HADDOCK won his warm up run this C & D just over two weeks ago when winning almost from start to finish. That was an impressive run and he could do pretty much the same again this afternoon. Jockey Andrew Fortune rode him for the first time last time climbs aboard again this afternoon. He loves this C & D where he has won twice and placed twice in five attempts over this C & D. He will have some useful sorts to battle against in this race and it won't be as easy as last time.

MOOTAHADEE shows a distinct liking for this track and is unbeaten this C & D (2 from 2). Jockey Anthony Delpech has made the journey from Durban to ride him and for the Mike De Kock yard this afternoon. He usually races up there near the front.

DOING IT FOR DAN takes on slightly stronger but won his last two in impressive style. Piere Strydom who piloted him to victory in his last two will be looking to record the hat trick. The partnership has brought five wins from eight starts. He finished well over slightly shorter.

OLYMPIC BOLT is a reserve runner. This Mike De Kock trained horse could earn something if given the chance ti run. Has had all three wins at this track.

ROMAN CARNIVAL is still improving. Looks to be out at the weights but can find himself at the back end of the quartets.

1st - CAPTAIN HADDOCK (8); 2nd - MOOTAHADEE (7); 3rd - DOING IT FOR DAN (4); 4th - OLYMPIC BOLT (13); 5th - ROMAN CARNIVAL (12)
