IRISH SALES GRADUATES TO THE FORE AT GOODWOOD

KODI BEAR (IRE) continued a fantastic season for Tally-Ho Stud's Kodiac when winning the Group 2 Celebration Mile in terrific style at Goodwood on Saturday. Gerald Mosse rode him to track the leading pair, with Fire Ship leading the six runner field over to the stands side on the turn-in. Mosse asked his mount in the straight, taking the lead before the two pole and was ridden out to win by 3 ¼ lengths, with Lincoln winner Gabrial (IRE) chasing him home. With the feature event run on soft ground, the Clive Cox-trained three-year-old proved himself versatile on the surface and showed that his impressive 4 ½ length win in the Group 3 Sovereign Stakes two weeks ago was no fluke.

A Listed winner at two, and second behind Belardo (IRE) in the Dewhurst Stakes, he holds entries in the Boomerang Mile at Irish Champions Weekend and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at British Champions Weekend. The top performer out of the unraced Hawattef (IRE), KODI BEAR (IRE) sold to Ballyphilip Stud for €20,000 at the Goffs November Foal Sale. Bred by Mrs William Fox, he is a half-brother to six winners, one of whom has produced two Listed winners. He comes from the family of dual Group 1 winner Esoterique (IRE) and the Group 2 winners Russian Cross (IRE), Russian Hope (IRE) and Archange D'Or (IRE).

Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale graduate HAWKSMOOR (IRE) streaked home to land the Group 3 Prestige Stakes on the same card, continuing an excellent season for trainer Hugo Palmer. Held up under Harry Bentley, the filly looked out of luck waiting for a gap to appear from three furlongs out, but got her chance in the final furlong to run on strongly and win by a nose. Highly regarded by her connections, she holds entries in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, the Fillies Mile and the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes.

Purchased for €80,000 by Amanda Skiffington, she is by the late Azamour (IRE), who also provided Palmer with Classic success in the form of Irish Oaks winner Covert Love (IRE). Her half-sister by Dragon Pulse (IRE) is catalogued as Lot 70 in this year's Orby Sale. Their Danehill Dancer (IRE) dam is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 second Millenium Dragon and was bought by breeder Tenuta Genzianella for €4,500 at the Goffs Breeding Stock Sale in 2009.
