€1.7 Million Frankel Filly Tops Orby

Star of the show on a strong opening day at Goffs Orby Sale was undoubtedly Mountarmstrong Stud’s daughter of Frankel out of the five time Group 1 winner Alexander Goldrun who was purchased by Teo Ah Khing of the China Horse Club for €1.7 million (Lot 23 – pictured).

The price of €1.7m exceeded the top price of last year’s Orby and was the fourth highest price at the sale in the past decade.

The stunning Frankel filly headed several purchases by the China Horse Club that also included a Galileo brother to Group 1 winner Lahaleeb from Tally Ho Stud (Lot 161) who sold for €250,000 as well as an Invincible Spirit colt from Baroda & Colbinstown (Lot 174). The brother to two Stakes winners was bought for €220,000.

Redmondstown Stud’s own sister to the brilliant Dawn Approach (Lot 201) was another standout Orby yearling and was purchased by BBA Ireland for €480,000, while another highlight on Day 1 was Deer Forest Stud’s son of Exceed And Excel out of the Champion Italian filly Aoife Alainn (Lot 41) who was knocked down to Roger Varian for €400,000.
