LAZER STAR confirms her class in Grade 2
The super talented four year old daughter of TOREADOR, LAZER STAR, had to work hard for her victory in the Grade 2 Spring Challenge over 1450m at the Turffontein Inside Track. She may have to work hard but it was another impressive win.
The field of nine loaded quickly, broke in a straight and for most of the race there was not muych of a distance between first and last.
SARVE was the first to show from FEATHERFOOT and FIRE DANCING. Shortly after the start, jockey Weichong Marwing moved the short priced favourite into third. The market rival, MADAME DUBOIS, was also well placed in fourth.
As they approached the home straight with about 500m to go SARVE still held on for the lead with FEATHERFOOT in tow. LAZER STAR began to look menacing with about 300m left and he challenged SARVE who had no answer to the burst by LAZER STAR, who went on to win a good race. SARVE was not disgraced and ran a game race back in second. MADAME DUBOIS finished well to grab third.
The win by the Ormond Ferraris trained LAZER STAR puts her earnings to just under R800 000.
It could be an exciting summer for LAZER STAR.
