Supporters of TRIP TO HEAVEN must have held their breaths at the start when he had to be reshod prior to the start. As it turned out the four year old son of TRIPPI ran a great race and the outcome was hardly in doubt. This was his third run after a rest and another feature race winner for last season's champion trainer, Sean Tarry and expertly ridden by champion jockey a few seasons ago, S'Manga Khumalo. There were stamina doubts about his being able to see out the 1450m but they were quelled in no uncertain terms as he won impressively by a good few lengths.
TRIP TO HEAVEN was the first to break and set his own pace from gun to tape. LIGHT THE WAY was slow to break and duly lost a few lengths.
TRIP TO HEAVEN was followed throughout the race by BOUCLETTE TOP who started in second and finished in second. FOREST FOX was handily placed throughout while WHITELINE FEVER had to change strides in fourth. The tote favourite ICE MACHINE moved up in the home straight but couldn't sustain his finish and lost third place at the line to WHITELINE FEVER.
TRIP TO HEAVEN is now unbeaten at this track with three from three. The win has elevated his earnings to well over R700 000. This was his fourth win from only eight starts and one feels safe in assuming that it won't end soon.
