Phumulela has warned Western Cape Racing authorities that unless field sizes are boosted to at least twelve horses per race they could face a reductuion in the stake money being made available or even meetings being cancelled.

Part of the problem has been that trainers and owners have been reluctant to run horses that are badly drawn.

Tradition, top trainers, jockeys and horses are very much a strong feature of Cape Town racing and one hopes that a solution is found sooner rather than later.
