Sentiero Italia Heads QEII

Godolphin Racing's Sentiero Italia, coming off back-to-back grade II victories as the favorite at Saratoga Race Course and Belmont Park, heads a field of nine 3-year-old fillies for the 32nd running of the $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (gr. IT) Presented by Lane's End Oct. 10.

The QE II, run at 1 1/8 miles on the grass, will go as the ninth race on Saturday's 10-race program with a 5:30 p.m. ET post time.

Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, Sentiero Italia finished fourth in her stakes debut in the Belmont Oaks Invitational (gr. IT) in July behind the undefeated Lady Eli. Following that effort, the Medaglia d'Oro   filly posted victories in the Maker's Mark Lake Placid (gr. IIT) at Saratoga and the Sands Point (gr. IIT) at Belmont.

Sentiero Italia will try to give McLaughlin his second victory in the race to go with the triumph of Alwajeeha in 2008. Joel Rosario, who rode Harmonious to victory in the 2010 edition of this race, has the mount Saturday from post 9.

Two fillies who chased Sentiero Italia home in the Sands Point will face her in the QE II; runner-up Blond Me and third-place finisher Miss Temple City.

Owned by Mrs. Barbara Keller and trained by Andrew Balding, Blond Me made her U.S. debut in the Sands Point. Junior Alvarado retains the mount from post 7.

Sagamore Farm, Allen Rosenblum and The Club Racing's Miss Temple City will try to give trainer Graham Motion his second victory in the race. His previous victory came in 2003 with Film Maker. Miss Temple City, who was second to Sentiero Italia in the Lake Placid, was second to Lady Eli in the Appalachian (gr. IIIT) at Keeneland this spring. Drayden Van Dyke has the mount Saturday from post 3.

Invading from the West Coast are the 2-3 finishers in the Del Mar Oaks (gr. IT), Her Emmynency and Prize Exhibit.

Owned by Dawn and Ike Thrash and trained by Mike Stidham, Her Emmynency will be ridden Saturday by Florent Geroux from post 4. Geroux was aboard for an allowance victory in her 2015 debut at Arlington International Racecourse in June; she also owns a win in last year's Surfer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita Park and was second in the Del Mar Debutante (gr. IT) last season.

Prize Exhibit, a two-time graded stakes winner who was fourth in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (gr. IT) at Santa Anita, is owned by Deron Pearson's DP Racing. Trained by Jim Cassidy, who won this race in 2004 with Ticker Tape (GB), Prize Exhibit will be ridden by Santiago Gonzalez and break from post 2.
