Further funding secured for Great British Racing International

Great British Racing International has had its funding extended for a minimum of two more years. GBRI was launched in April 2013 with the purpose of bringing international investment into the British racing and breeding industries and marketing British racing to a wider international audience. Originally backed by Racing Enterprises Limited, the Horserace Betting Levy Board and the British Horseracing Authority, it will now be funded directly by REL due to to the current industry funding challenges, with reductions in the Levy and cuts to the BHA budget. REL chairman Chris McFadden said: "The business review demonstrated that much had been achieved by GBRI since its launch in 2013. "The activities of GBRI have proven to be significant in attracting and maintaining international investment and a powerful marketing platform on which to promote the global excellence of British racing and bloodstock. "With limited financial means, the GBRI team has done a terrific job in creating value for the industry. "The REL board felt it was important that GBRI's work continued, since the organisation has shown in a short amount of time to have become a valuable resource in growing international investment.
