Tattersalls' 2015 Receipts on Par With 2014

Tattersalls reported annual turnover of 262,139,150 guineas (approximately US$409,618,635) for 2015, a figure falling just 0.5% below last year's record in total receipts.

Highlights of the Tattersalls' year included the highest-priced yearling and broodmare in the world in 2015 and the highest priced foal in Europe. Eight of the 12 sales held at Park Paddocks in Newmarket posted records for gross, average, or median, the sale company said in a release.

Overall, 5,191 horses were sold from 6,461 through the ring this year, compared with 4,935 to change hands from 5,908 offered in 2014. There were 581 more horses cataloged throughout this year's sales than in last year's catalogs.

"It is enormously satisfying that in 2015 Tattersalls has all but matched last year's record annual turnover, and that the figures sit 7% above the pre-recession peak of 2007," Tattersalls chairman Edmund Mahony said. "Tattersalls remains the only Thoroughbred auction house in Great Britain or Ireland whose turnover has risen above those pre-economic crisis levels, which is a tribute to the support that our clients, both vendors and purchasers alike, have provided."
