Flemington trainers Mark Kavanagh and Danny O’Brien will return to the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board later this month to learn the penalties for their respective cobalt charges.

The pair, along with vet Dr Tom Brennan, was found guilty of all charges relating to elevated cobalt readings taken from five horses in the spring of 2014.

The RAD Board will reconvene at 10.30am on January 19 where the trainers can expect a minimum three-year disqualification.

However, Kavanagh and O’Brien will file an appeal with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal shortly after their penalty is announced.
