South Coast based Tim Phillips, former professional jockey turned champion picnic rider was sentenced to the two-year prison term in a Batemans Bay courthouse on Monday.

A multiple premiership winning picnic hoop, Phillips etched his name into the history books after riding the program at Marthaguy picnic races on September 1, 2012.

Phillips, who hadn’t ridden since June last year, will not be eligible for release until December 8, 2017.
