PIERE STRYDOM hoping to be fit by DUBAI WORLD CUP NIGHT

Top South African jockey and five time winner of the South African jockey championship, Piere Strydom, is hoping to be back in the saddle for World Cup night in Dubai at the end of March. He suffered a bad fall in the pull up area after race five when riding the Louis Goosen trained WINTER BREEZE at the Vaal On Thursday.

He was rushed to the Vereeniging Mediclinic where he was reported to have suffered concussion and a broken right collar bone. He has since been transferred to the Union Hospital in Alberton, which is closer to home. WINTER BREEZE, who survived the fall, stumbled in the longer grass in the pull up area and came crashing down as her front legs gave way, thus dislodging her jockey.
