ANTHONY DELPECH JETS OFF TO DUBAI TO RIDE HARRY'S SON

South African jockey, Anthony Delpech, is on his way to Dubai to ride HARRY'S SON in the Group 1 Dubai Turf over 1800m at Meydan on World Cup Night on Saturday. HARRY'S SON, a Grade 1 winner in South Africa, has never been ridden by Anthony Delpech before.

The Seychelles born jockey is not new to International race success. In 2005 he rode the David Ferraris trained VENGEANCE OF RAIN in the Hong Kong Derby in 2005. He also won the following feature races in Hong Kong: The Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup aboard VENGEANCE OF RAIN, also in 2005; The Hong Kong Champions & Chater Cup, also in 2005 and also aboard VENGEANCE OF RAIN; The Grade 1 Hong Kong Cup, the richest flat race in the world, aboard the same horse; The Dubai Sheema Classic in 2007 aboard VENGEANCE OF RAIN and the same horse in the Hong Kong Gold Cup, also in 2007.

He was Champion jockey in South Africa in 1999 and 2003. He has also won South Africa's premier horse race, the Durban July on four occasions. His first taste of success in the race came in 1998 aboard CLASSIC FLAG, for David Ferraris and then the balance for the strong Mike De Kock yard aboard GREYS INN (2004), BOLD SILVANO (2010) and IGUGU (2011).

HARRY'S SON is an Australian bred four year old cold son of Hardasun and trained by Paul Lafferty, who was a former professional footballer for Durban City FC, winning the Premier League, in two consecutive years. Born in Durban, his stables are at Summerveld, a mere thirty five kilometers west of Durban's Greyville Race Course.
