MIKE DE KOCK ON MUBTAAHIJ

Top South African trainer, Mike De Kock was extremely proud of his four year old MUBTAAHIJ. Finishing second to the mighty United States superstar, CALIFORNIA CHROME, was no mean feat, especially seeing that the champion's saddle slipped midway through the race.

The race, run over the Meydan dirt and over a distance of 2000m, was contested for a prize of $10 million. Mike De Kock went on to add that the winner even had to race wide throughout and the manner in which he won was something really special.

He was extremely happy with MUBTAAHIJ and jockey Christophe Soumillon for the way he followed instructions and in his opinion, had a great ride. MUBTAAHIJ jumped well and stayed very well throughout and to finish second to the best horse in the world is no mean feat. He was happy with the way he was ridden as he made his way to the inside early on in the race.

Mike De Kock did go on to say that there were no immediate plans for MUBTAAHIJ but the form of this renewal of the Dubai World Cup is likely to carry much merit. CALIFORNIA CHROME set a new track record in winning, and in the process became the all-time leading money earner in North American racing history.
