STRELITZIA STAKES (Grade 3) - THE SECRET IS OUT is another two year old filly to watch
THE SECRET IS OUT, the two year old daughter of CAPTAIN AL, showed her class when she won the Grade 3 Strelitzia Stakes at Scottsville this afternoon. As a result she remains unbeaten after two and her first black type entry. She made her debut at Kenilworth three and a half months ago and was sent off as favourite at 8/10. When she won that day by almost four lengths, it was clear that she was more than just useful. The way in which she won today confirmed that belief.
The start was a messy one in which WILD IRISH made contact with BEAU VAR with the former being taken out and the latter almost stumbling. SEATTLE SINGER made the early speed. MYGIRLDOWNUNDER moved up to take the lead at the midway point but soon fell away as the favourite, THE SECRET IS OUT, swooped down along the inside and won without much effort. Cape Town trainer, Vaughan Marshall, is bang in form and won three races from eight at Kenilworth. He looks to have a potentially excellent two year old filly on his hands. This weekend we have seen two more than just useful fillies in CLOTH OF CLOUD, trained by Sean Tarry, at Turffontein yesterday and THE SECRET IS OUT today.
The Corne Spies maiden runner, SEATTLE SINGER made good progress late to finish second while the two Sean Tarry runners TOUCHING and VISUALITY finished third and fourth respectively.
