R 1m - KZN BREEDERS MILLION MILE: NO WORRIES leaves RABADA behind.

The six year old son of KAHAL, trained by Gavin Van Zyl, won this race two years ago at Clairwood, that was just before the closure of that superb turf track which was rated as one of the best in the country, not that this has anything to do with the win two years later at the more historic track, Greyville.

A competitive field was sent away from the 1600m mark with the short price favourite, the Mike Azzie trained RABADA, the rage. RABADA has been entered into the Vodacom Durban July in six days time. Whether he will run after this run today, remains to be seen. On the face of what we saw today, it could be unlikely, but that decision will be made during the first few days of this week which may make way for the controversial omission, TROPHY WIFE, to become a runner. Why could RABADA be scratched? There could be a few reasons. He tried very hard to win this race from start to finish and was found wanting in the latter stages. His usual pilot, Anton Marcus, who rode him this afternoon and his previous eight races, is not carded to ride him in the "big one". Even though he won the Grade 1 Daily News over 2000m a few weeks ago, he may find the extra 200m teasting after a strenuous campaign.

Enough about the horse that finished second! NO WORRIES under Warren Kennedy was always well placed in this race, even though he was about eight lengths behind in the initial stages. At the top of the home straight he had his eyes targeted on RABADA who had led the race from start to finish. His final burst was made at the 200m marker and he drew away well from RABADA. The well fancied RABADA did enough late to stay on and hold on for second. NO WORRIES was allowed to drift ion the betting from an opening call of 4/1 to 9/1. This was his sixth win from forty starts, but in the process, has amassed around R2 900 000 in stake money.

As per usual, the Sean Tarry three year old MALAK EL MOOLOOK, under the very much "under fire" jockey, S'Manga Khumalo, finished well to take third place.
