SUMMERHILL STUD- SOUTH AFRICA’S CHAMPION BREEDERS OF 2015-2016

Summerhill Stud regained their title of South Africa’s Champion Breeders for the recently concluded 2015-2016 racing season.
The KZN showpiece farm claimed the title for a staggering tenth time, having finished runner up on the log for the past two seasons.

Summerhill Stud were represented by 383 runners during the season which finished little more than a week ago.
Their tally of runners included no fewer than 152 winners, who won 230 races during 2015-2016 and amassed an impressive total of R21 027 712.

Summerhill just held off Klawervlei Stud (SA’s champion breeders’ for the past two years previously), with Lammerskraal Stud back in third place ahead of Maine Chance Farms and Highlands Farm.

Lammerskraal Stud put up a stunning performance during the last season –the farm had nearly 300 fewer runners than Summerhill, but still managed to finish third, with Lammerskraal Stud bred thoroughbreds picking up no fewer than 12 feature races during the season and banking an impressive R12 416 450.

Among the top class runners to represent Summerhill during the 2015-2016 season were G1 Daily News 2000 winner Rabada, G2 Gold Bowl winner Arch Rival, G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas winner Heaps Of Fun, G3 Track And Ball Oaks winner Intergalactic and KZN Breeders Million Mile hero No Worries.

To date, the latter (who had also won the KZN Breeders Million Mile back in 2014) has banked over R2.9 million and is a tremendous advert for a farm that clearly remains at the top of the tree!
