National 2yo Sale starts

The historic National Two Year Old Sale is set to get underway at Germiston tonight at 6pm.

This sale, which has produced the likes of world class sprinter J J The Jet Plane, Met winner River Jetez and international Gr1 winners Dane Julia and Irridescence, is one of South Africa’s oldest thoroughbred auctions and holds a storied place on the local auction calender.

Recent star graduates to have emerged from the Two Year Old Sale include the recently named Equus Champion Three-Year-Old Filly Bela-Bela (Dynasty). The latter, a half sister to another Equus Champion in the form of Rabiya (Jallad), was a R1 400 000 purchase from the 2014 National Two Year Old Sale.

Noah From Goa (Tiger Ridge) was another notable buy from the 2014 Two Year Old Sale, with that gelding (himself an Equus Award nominee) having gone on to win the Gr1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas.
This year, the National Two Year Old Sale will take place over a period of two days, with the second and final day of trading scheduled to take place on Friday at 11am.
Stallions represented on this year’s sale Captain Al (4), Dynasty (3), Fort Wood (1), Gimmethegreenlight (8), Ideal World (6), Judpot (9), Kahal (2), Pathfork (5), Philanthropist (6), Querari (6), Sail From Seattle (13), Silvano (8), Trippi (2) and Var (2).
