Building up to the incredible Ordos CECF event on Sunday

After a late arrival in Ordos in Inner Mongolia on Thursday night, the true build up to China's biggest racing day yet, kicked in on Thursday morning with a visit to the amazing racetrack the host venue for the CECF Ordos event on Sunday. Dignitaries and media have streamed into Ordos for the event and a look at the new home of the China Horse Club operation base.

An early morning drive to the course brought us to the outstanding facility that is the Ordos Racecourse. For a course that has hosted just a handful of races, it would be the envy of many racing administrators around the world.

The CECF Event preparations are well on the way with global sponsors including the leading bloodstock companies of the world and local sponsors part of the raceday.

We met with the China Horse Club trainer Jarred Coetzee, the son of former Bloemfontein trainer Kevin. The 29 year old is the primary trainer in Ordos for the China Horse Club members and his horses will race for the four races up for grabs on Sunday.

The races include three 500k yuan (R1 million) races and one 1 million yuan (R2 million)  event. Coetzee has more than 120 horses in training of which he will race 24 on Sunday in a Racemeeting where he is the sole trainer. The event will be broadcast live via streaming on SAHorseracing.COM.

With the future of Chinese racing looking promising, this event gives one a glimpse into the next level that could be the new racing superpower.
